Kato SD38-2s are a better starting point and would require less work. However, dont be so quick to get rid of those plain 38s. You could turn them into SD38ACs. Just need to MABE change the trucks air filter and front railings around-all depends on whats on them now. That would be much simpler than turning them into -2s.
