I think you mean CN and not CP. I think the B&LE name is safe. So tell me where on the CN system in Western, PA and Northeast Ohio can the B&LE crews run if they do away with the B&LE name? Oh wait, there is no CN rails close enough for the B&LE crews to run on... Unless they Jitney them to Toledo...
Here's a little snippet from the Ore Board that I thought made sense...
The CN may keep the reporting marks, for the purpose of tax reasons. Look at how long the SOO LINE had purchased the Milwaukee Road? There are still a couple Milwaukee Raod "BANDITS" running around after more than 25 years. If the equipment is still owned by the bank, the equipment in question will still have to bear the DM&IR reporting marks, even if the CN re-paints said equipment. I have seen re-painted Milwaukee Road hi-cube boxcars with new CP red paint still bearing the Milwaukee Road reporting marks...
CN still owns the DMIR and DWP reporting marks along with a bunch of others. They can use what they want. But the brand name is CN, nothing will change until new equipment is bought, even then the reporting marks could still be DMIR with the CN logo.
