My memory is hazy, but those concrete pillars did once support tracks but not for a coal dealer. It was a grain mill that just happened to have an elevated spur. You may notice that its Mill St. It was also a candy maker once upon a time, according to some fire insurance maps I saw once (and have lost access to).
The Connoquenessing used to turn north right there and go up between Shore and Race st, which is why they turn like they do and theres a grass strip between them. Its also why that neighborhood is called the Island.
