I dont know what the full story was on the U18C but the Union also asked EMD for a 12 cylinder non turbo GP39 on SDL39 trucks. EMD wouldnt do this either.
If the BLE had bought a few U33Bs they couldve traded some F7s in to reuse the EMD trucks correct? Also ive never seen a U33B demonstrator before so what did the units look like? I assume they wouldve been production units borrowed from a class 1 railroad?
