Sam, Not sure where you got your information, but my friends at GE say the major layoffs at Erie and Grove City are due to the fact that they have zero new orders. None of the Class 1 railroads are ordering anymore locos due to the fact they have thousands currently parked. GE is still finishing smaller orders for the Class 1s and doing small foreign locomotive orders, but the fact is the 200+ orders they were getting per Class 1 are winding down if not already finished. Grove City is still building a limited amount of new prime movers, as well as rebuilds and other applications(pumps, marine) Bob
