I was told by the general foreman at NB(back in the 70's), that the USS owned roads frequently swapped power, depending on who was better off financially. I assume that meant if the DM & IR were in better shape than the B&LE or EJ&E, then that road would purchase x amounts of equipment and lease it to the others as needed. Don't know if this practice was the same w/cabooses. F-7 719 on the spam siding.
