Going over the 1981 equipment data and summary I noticed quickly that around ¼ of the equipment listed falls under the Leased category. For example SD38AC 865-869 are listed under the leasing column along with several SD9s. Lastly I found a large amount of cabooses under leased equipment. 1981-1989 are listed as Leased Cabooses. I know its common practice in the transportation industry to lease and label then to flat out own your equipment. If this was the case with the B&LE who was the holding company that they were leasing this equipment from?
