I have always been curious what the motivation was for the B&LE (or any other railroad for that matter) to use bay window cabooses. There's not much of interest on the top of a coal train, of course, but it does seem the cupola would give a better view of the overall train when needed. The B&LE used to use standard cupolas, so there must have been an advantage of some sort. Anyone know what the advantage was?
