We don't know what happens to the house. It may become the home of the Princess of Orange when she settles down but it could also be kept by the King and Queen for their personal use and a home to return to once the reign of Willem-Alexander ends. That is what Beatrix did with Castle Drakensteyn.
The Princess of Orange will not need a formal residence for the next 5 to 10 years. She could take over Noordeinde 66 (former home and office of her father and now pied-à-terre for her grandmother) as her grandmother will probably no longer need it by that time.
As a young single princess that house should be large enough for Amalia. Once she starts a family she probably would prefer something a little larger and with more outdoor space so villa Eikenhorst or a new building at the Horsten Estate could come into play.
What will happen to Eikenhorst when they move out?
This will - probably - be the last time the Dutch RC and their 3 daughters pose for the media at their residence 'De Eikenhorst' as Huis ten Bosch Palace will be fully restored next year and the family will move in there.
This afternoon the King seems to have been competing with his fast growing-up daughters and his wife about the all famous question: who is the tallest of us all...
