Part genes, part diet and lack of regular, strenuous exercise, mental state and hormones. So many factors determine weight. Emma was quite heavy in her thirties and forties (Regency years) while she slimmed down in her 60s. Wilhelmina gained weight from her thirties onwards and became square or round as a ball. Beatrix was chubby as a teen and became thin when she dated and married. She stayed in good shape for years until her late fourties/fifties then she gained weight again. Now she seems to be slimmer than she was years ago. King Willem-Alexander was thin until he had to take medication for his illness. I think that triggered it for him. His metabolism must be very slow as he is very active (runs several times a week) and seems to be on a permanent diet at home with Maxima being very wary of carbs....
: "... That would be another issue and she
: is slightly heavier than the ideal..."
: Amalia has what I call those bl*sted
: first-born genes which all heirs/esses
: have suffered from!
: Juliana, Beatrix and W-A have/had it and
: Amalia clearly ressembles them.
: Of the present adult generation it is only
: the King and his B-P cousin Carlos however
: who show the same traits of these genes.
: Look at Juliana's other grandchildren: the
: B-P and Van Vollenhoven cousins and we see
: they all are of a diffent build.
: Princess Christina is short & square of
: build like her grandmother Wilhelmina
: Of Beatrix' grandchildren Amalia is also the
: only one who hasn't escaped these genes:
: none of her sisters, Prince Friso's
: daughters nor Prince Constantijn's children
: are 'chubby'.
: I do however wonder if we can thank Queen
: Emma for these genes ... Any thoughts??
