I noticed the couple visited Bavaria in February 2016, and I assume there might also have been visits in 2015 and 2014? The couple has not paid a state visit to Germany, however, only an introduction visit in June 2013.
Has this unusual new ´tradition´ of visiting new Bundesländer each year (and no formal state visit) been ´explained´ in the Dutch press at some point? It seems somewhat strange to be formally received by the state premiers when they have not been formally received by the Bundespresident.
