What more exactly did you read about Máxima that you are wondering about her capabilities? Perhaps you didn't read enough about her? 
Of course you don't need to be enthousiastic about her but I am just curious what it is exactly you mean which make you get doubts about her?
Of course Máxima would have corrected the sentence if she knew the c word. She regularly corrects him...
I (a Dutchman) must say though that if my partner would have used a Flemish (Belgian) proverb with slightly different words from Dutch I would have double-checked it with Flemish friends unless I wouldn't have any clue about a certain rude meaning! But I would never have played with the proverb (which has an exact wording) by using a different word for some reason. It's still a riddle to me how it could have happened.
Of course, all the different varieties of Spanish in South and Middle America cause this.
