Alexander said that he had practiced pronouncing the sentence in the morning together with Máxima. Obviously Máxima never knew about the use of the word in Mexico, that's obvious (or Máxima must have been the republican here, Manuel... 
)
"Lets not make a whale out of a shrimp", Alexander said later. (He didn't say it in Spanish though... and neither in Dutch: Laten we van een mug geen olifant maken... ). BTW He was quite glad with the incident for everybody now knew they visited the country!
There was a little poll in Dutch newspaper AD: more or less 60% thought about the mistake "well, it can happen". 20% said it was a serious mistake, 20% said Máxima should have known...
