At the end of the state visit paid to Mexico by Queen Beatrix accompanied by the Prince of Orange and his wife Princess Máxima there was a meeting with the (mainly) Dutch press.
Main issues:
1. Prince of Orange has had sleepless nights about all the criticism surroung "Mozambique".
There should be no doubts about his and his wife's good intentions. And his work for The Netherlands is the most important in his life (in this manner rejecting the criticism of international jetsetting...)
2. Queen Beatrix understands the wish of her son to find a quiet place to relax (like she did in Italy; Tavernelle). (Thus rejecting the remarks made that she had opposed the idea right from the start.)
3. HM asks the press to report about the Mozambique project in an objective way and not "coloured".
4. The costs of the monarchy: the House always focuses on spending the money wisely/economically.
5. The criticism surrounding the Monarchy did have an impact on the Queen. "It touches one." but "please" she asks the media also to report correctly.
