What I don't really understand is that PoO "quoted" a Mexican proverb. "Quoting" a the wrong word? But quoting isn't the same as translating isn't it? It's always difficult to translate a proverb from language A to language B but quoting (= the exact words) should avoid this problem plus additional "explaining" of the meaning in different words would be the option).
It's an example of a lazy preparation of a speech.
Of course this is ammunition to critics of the PoO...
Murphy's Law eh?
I remember a gaffe in Beatrix's speech in Canada (Quebec) too...
