I (grandpa) have this déjà vu...
Queen Beatrix and her Prince Claus were very much interested in the ideas of the Club of Rome when it was founded ages ago... Attended many meetings.
Did anything change since then, I wonder?
Well, perhaps, some changes.
So lets remain optimistic. Step by step is perhaps better than never...
Good that HM is present again. Being on high alert is still needed.
I remember decades of shrugging shoulders and cynical comments "O, that Club of Lefties?". Now the Gores and environmentalists are heroes... Now it's trendy again to be "green" and "sustainable". But I warn you it will pass again...
But HM will remain the same and consistent (and so does her sister Princess Irene who warned against developments for decades in a consistent way). Although I am a little bit in doubt as to HM's own personal "green behaviour" in all this... (I commented on this several times, making some posters yawn-here-we-go-again...
. But I know of no other monarchs who have been so into the Club of Rome's principles as Queen Beatrix (or perhaps she is representing her late husband now at this meeting?), so I would like to know what her personal contributions have been. HM: Everyone has his/her own responsibility in this huge problem, starting on a small scale. Contribute yourself! I hardly hear about it... I just see a royal train being used 1-2 times a year, racing princes, helicopters used to attend an opening of a garden exposition, Princes of Oranges travelling all around the world on a weekly basis as if they take the local Wassenaar tram (there is no...
) to the next stop......).
I repeat: Everyone embraces the idea now, but it can change again. Read my lips.
