TRH will open the exhibition "Oman" at the Nieuwe Kerk,Amsterdam this evening.
Over 300 objects from museums in Oman are on display visialising the long history and exceptional cultural traditions of the country.
The exhibition has 5 major themes:
The earlyest civilisation ( archeological excavation objects,pottery & jewellery0
Religion:17th Century Koran's with geometrical and floral motivs
Trade:Old maps,info on the trade with Portuguese,British and Dutch and their settlements in Oman at the time
19th Century Court life of the ,still Reigning,Al Bu Said Family (private furniture,clothing & jewelry).
The exhibition is in line with previous exhibitions on Afghanistan,Morocco,Istanbul and Mexico held at this venue.
TRH have been on a official visit to Oman fro january 15th till january 20th 2009.
