It's not really a matter of them giving in. It's a matter of the people through the parliament no longer funding many of those silly privileges. If HM feels that makes her position impossible she could abdicate, if her son agrees he could refuse to accept the throne. Neither of them will do so as that game would be very dangerous and the outcome impossible to predict.
Quite frankly all this negative PR should have been avoided by simple looking at every expense on a regular basis.
