private (royal) travel expenses

So why were those expenses still so high last year when they can fly for free with KLM?
I don't see why private travel needs to be paid for by anyone else than those doing the travelling. The Queen, the prince and his wife all three have a state income that exceeds their work-related expenses. That is their private income. That part of their income is to cover their private expenses and private travel should be included in that.
