Today I passed the Royal Palace in Amsterdam and, yes, the very first signs of the facade cleaning operation are visible (to those with hawk's eyes who know...). Corners of the veil being lifted...
The weather was sombre and gray and the evening was about to start, so the photos are a bit dark, but I clearly noticed that the palace is now being cleant, starting at the top.
The colour to me seemed a natural, uneven mix of "sand", "rust" "brown", "yellow" and "light grey" which gives a "sandy blond" effect indeed. Nice. Reminds me a bit of some earthen colours in Tuscany, the Provence with a touch of the Cliffs of Dover and Møns Klint in Denmark
...
But I don't think that we have to worry about a too "trendy" end result. It will be a subtle thing.
I will keep you visually posted over the coming months (by means of my new Flickr account which I find more easy to manage than renewed Photobucket.)
