The information that the Prince is a commissaris in the Board of the Nederlandsche Bank N.V. was already for years on this page: http://www.koninklijkhuis.nl/content.jsp?objectid=16620 All commissionairs in the Board are paid. Also other commissioners who are paid by the taxpayer like A.H. van Delden (Chairman of the council of the juddiciary) or T. van de Graaf (secretary-general Ministry of General Affairs) receive an income for this. No any commissariate is 'for free'.
