All: *I had circled the lake during the night, and the tracks in the mud had indicated two main places where hoofed animals often came to drink. I had used a long knotted rope thrown over a low branch and doubled over itself to climb a tree with a good vantage point over one of them. I had then tied the rope to the branch for easy up and down access. I had then collected some large rocks from the shoreline where the lake was fed by a stream. A few throwing rocks, should I need something to chase away predators, and three larger rocks, each about twice the size of my fist, for hunting, when the right prey beast came to drink.*

: *I then had anchored myself to the bole of the tree by affixing a stout leather throng from the back of my belt around the tree bole and back. This way, I could substantial lean into my two handed throw of one of the large rocks without losing my footing on the branch upon which I stand, or if using a two handed chest thrust throw, not tumbling backwards off the branch from the "opposite reaction" effect.*

All: *Now, a small tabuk, a female, probably born this spring has come to drink, and I stand silent and motionless as she cautiously looks around before putting her head down to drink. When she does lower her head to start drinking, I take the smaller of my three large rocks in two hands over my head, and toss it out just far enough to cover the distance between me and the prey animal, knowing gravity will put enough momentum on the rock. The rock arcs through the air, then falls with increasing speed to land on the back of the tabuk's skull. I can tell by the sound that the beast's skull is fractured, so there will be no hurry to get down to the beast, as there would be if she were merely knocked out. That tabuk is stone dead.*

All: *I undo the throng fixed to my belt, and use the rope to lower my backpack and equipment to the ground. I then fix the rope so that it is doubled over the branch, with both ends hanging towards the ground. This way, by holding both sides of the rope, I can climb down, and once down, simply pull one end of the rope to retrieve it. I then turn my attention to the dead tabuk.*
