Hi, SM -- good idea. :->
You fly into Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). I stayed at the Alexander Inn, as did most of the others coming from a distance. I would recommend it, for sure. Rooms are small but reasonable, and it's very close to where the workshop was held (I imagine it will be the same place). You don't need a rental car (you can even get a cheap train from the airport, and take a short cab ride to the Alexander -- or just take a cab from the airport if you don't mind paying more; I think it was about $25).
The hotel is in the middle of the gayborhood, so there is *plenty* to do. Besides, if your workshop is anything like ours was (April 2009) you will have lots of good company and conversation to continue in the evenings, wherever you end up.
I highly recommend this -- it was so worth the expense, even with a long-distance airfare. The ladies from our workshop have kept in touch and the ones on the East Coast get together regularly. I believe other past workshop groups do so as well. It's an intense bonding experience.
Good luck and enjoy -
