Neither my mother nor my father was particularly connected to us kids.
It always seemed that my mom would have preferred not to have had children. I received only negative and never positive reinforcement from her while growing up. She never gave us any guidance, only punished us if we disappointed her. My dad, like most dads of the time, was not really involved in parenting decisions.
When my mother suspected that I had a gf at around age 20, she confronted me by asking, "are you sleeping with __?", Really cold.
