I had to tell my 16 year old son and 13 year old daughter before they found out from someone else.....it was soo hard and I remember seeing there faces in the seconds before I told them (individually) and thinking "This could be the last time they look at me without disgust". Guess what! They did surprise me and told me they would always love me. There have been a few ups and downs but they have never thrown it at me and in fact my son makes the occasional tongue-in-cheek joke about things. I do feel they are surprised at how strong I am too. Good luck, the first day of the rest of your life!! x
