This is of course just my opinion. I think as a mother our first priority in life is to make sure our children are taken care of both while we are here and after we leave this world if possible. Our next priority is our partner. I think for both of your childrens sake it makes sense to have legal documentation as to who gets what and how things will be divided if something happens - health, the relationship, life circumstances, etc...If things are handled in that way then no matter what - even if you are together for the life time, which i hope for you - then everyone can rest easy and there will be no problems down the road.
If I learned nothing from a long marriage its that sh** happens, one should always be prepared.

: Hi Everybody,
:
: Just wondering how everyone else handles
: money matters....I live with my partner and
: our five children. We both came from hetero
: marriages, both 15+ years. Immediately upon
: starting our lives together, we pooled our
: resources. We have one checking account,
: one savings account, etc.
:
: My partner owns the house (in her name) and
: my ex h got our house. I have since been
: told by a lesbian friend that this is not
: the best idea, as there is no legal
: protections for lesbian couples under the
: law.
:
: Do you think seperate accounts is more
: advisable? How would/do you handle money in
: your lesbian relationship?
:
: Thanks, and Happy Halloween! =)
