Hey bigbird,
First what a great question! As you already know, this is still all new to me but I'm so excited! When I saw that you had written my name as polar bear / simon, I felt validated and seen all over again. I just wanted to let you know how meaningful that felt to me, and in these early stages helps to build my self-confidence in him that was buried for so long.
I've decided to remain Polar Bear on AJ, as I would like to continue sharing my former coming out as a married lesbian experience as they may pertain and relate to the women here. I have chosen Simon as my handle on the transmasculine board. Looking forward to seeing you there!

: Thanks for your response...the family b/r is a
: great idea...i've seen those fm time to time
: and thought of parents with small children
: of opposite sex...i imagine it would be ok
: to use, it doesn't take "that
: long" to take a piss...i especially
: liked your post about your family wanting to
: "protect" you...how sweet is
: that...i have a lot of thoughts on this
: subject but do not feel comfortable
: mentioning them in this forum...and if you
: do create a website will you please keep me
: in mind...i would be extremely interested in
: yours and others journey's...i don't have
: that same ah ha moment as polar
: bear/simon...i have known this about myself
: prior to puberty...you are just putting
: words on screen that i can identify with
: 100%....i just don't act on my feelings
: (well in my mind i'm an awesome looking
: dude)... thanks again

: First -- if they have one -- I use the
: unisex
: or family bathroom.
:
: Second, if I don't see one, I ask.
:
: Third, I use the women's. But Laurie or one
: of the kids usually want to go with me to
: "protect" me.
:
: Fourth, if I know I'm in a queer friendly
: space, and they don't have unisex bathrooms,
: I use the men's.
:
: There's pressure from trans groups in DC for
: a law requiring unisex bathrooms in all
: public-access places in the city. It has a
: good chance of passing.
:
: And I see more and more unisex and/or family
: bathrooms all the time. IKEA has them. One
: of our pools has them. Some malls have them.
