I also loved the Huston & Benson run. As for Moon Knight being "saved", I'm not sure things are that bad with his book right now.
The Marc Spector: Moon Knight series was pretty bad, too. I think all that really needs to happen is for a good writer to get ahold of the character and take him back to the basics; what made him popular to begin with. He needs to work alone (as in away from the other Marvel superheroes), and he needs some cool street level crime to deal with. He does have a fun rogues gallery to use and expand on. Bring back his original personalities and the way he used them.
One of my favorite issues of the Benson run was Moon Knight #20. It was a story set in the past with classic Moon Knight dealing with Jack Russell. It was great and reminded me of how cool old Moon Knight comics are. The formula stills works as far as I'm concerned.
: I agree with Bthomasusmc. Huston and Benson
: did some great stuff with the character.
: Hurwitz on the other hand, not so much.
: At this point, I think the only way to
: "save" Moon Knight (short of us
: raising enough money to pay Marvel to never
: stop publishing the book,) is to make him a
: regularly featured member on a prominent
: team. I'm not talking about this Secret
: Avengers thing where he shows up once every
: six issues. I mean damn near every issue.
: That said, I think the Thunderbolts would be
: a good place for him.
: T-bolts has always been about the redemption
: of bad guys, and Marc knows about doing
: terrible things even if he's never been a
: super villain. If Cage steps down from
: handling the team, I think a great evolution
: for Moon Knight would be to see him chase
: his own redemption by trying to reform a
: team of crooks.

: Charlie Huston and Mike Benson had, hands
: down, the BEST MK run Since the 80's.
: Without Huston's ressurection of the

: In my opinion ever since Charlie Huston
: completely ruined the character in 2006 Moon
: Knight has just gotten worse and worse. So
: my question is how to bring Moon Knight back
: to his kick ass self? Please respond with
: your ideas because they can't be any worse
: then the staff at Marvels.
: I'll start you off. KILL OFF MARC SPECTER.
: His continuity is beyond repair. The only
: way to fix this is to start from scratch.
: When Marc is dead Konshu will need a new
: This new avatar can fight crime with the use
: of several personae including Cabbie Jake
: Lochley, Millionaire Stephen Grant, and
: Mercenary...Marc Specter.
: Okay now your ideas?
