The entire thing just felt rushed. But what's more offensive than anything were the glaring continuity errors. Even little things like Moon Knight referring to Marlene as his wife. When did they get married? Why has Randall been reduced to the character that they bring back and kill in every appearance? Is he immortal? They even reference his original appearance in this arc.
I know I've said this before, but if they want to bring back personal characters to Moon Knight that have already died and not have to resort to lazy writing (like Bushman and Randall), then why can't anyone think of using Morpheus? He can make Moon Knight see the dead if he wanted to, but more importantly HE'S NOT DEAD!
I eagerly await the Bendis series because it can't be worse than this last one.

: I have a feeling this is pretty much the
: direction Hurwitz was going with VoMK but
: Moon Knight's involvement with Shadowland
: and the cancellation of VoMK forced him to
: rush the story. However, that doesn't mean
: I think this was a good story. Even with
: six or twelve issues, the return of Randall
: Spector would probably have been a bad story
: if this is how it was going to happen.
:
: Randall's past history seems to have been
: completely retconned or just forgotten and
: the Hatchetman reference felt like a cheap
: condolence card. There was never a mention
: of his death by the Punisher or even a real
: recognition of the Hatchetman murders. Marc
: doesn't react to the mask with anything more
: than what amounts to a shoulder-shrug saying
: it looks familiar. I'm pretty sure a guy
: would fully recall the night his girlfriend
: was nearly murdered by his axe-wielding
: brother. Of course, it turned out the
: Hatchetman wasn't his brother (it was
: actually a former roommate of Randall's from
: a mental institution who Rand brainwashed,
: ugh) but still.
:
: Overall, I was more turned off by the dialog
: and the art than anything else in this
: issue. The art was too cartoony and that
: final panel of Marc with the beady-eyed grin
: was a little beyond what was necessary. The
: guy is troubled, he isn't completely batshit
: crazy. There's no reason to draw him like
: he's about to start eating pillows and
: barking. My problem with the dialog is it
: was far too melodramatic. It was like a
: soap opera or an old Greek play where the
: actors are wearing giant masks to convey
: their emotions because the audience is
: sitting too far away to see the stage.
:
: If there was one good thing about this story
: it might be the return of Marc Spector as
: the dominant personality. I liked Jake. I
: really did. I was hoping we'd see more of
: him and I'm sure Bendis won't forget him or
: Steven when he takes over the book but,
: really, Marc Spector is Moon Knight. My
: prediction is he drops most of the weird
: gadgets and armor when the new series begins
: next spring.
:
: As far as Khonshu goes, his existence hasn't
: been ambiguous since the Fist of Khonshu
: mini and Hurwitz isn't the first writer to
: make him an actual, speaking character in a
: story. I'm okay with that, but I still want
: to see somebody solidify Khonshu's place
: among Marvel's gods. Chaos War would have
: been an interesting place for him and Moon
: Knight. I think it's a missed opportunity.

: So... if you haven't read Shadowland 3 of
: moon
: knight, then I would suggest not reading
: further, because my rant may contain
: spoilers. With that said, I was really
: dissapointed in the overall way Randall came
: back. There was a refrence to his Hatchet
: Man disguise, as he was walking through a
: crowd and he had the same mask on, and MK
: says "Hey, I know that mask," its
: refrencing the old Hulk issues... which
: Randall just happens to die in... why would
: the author go out of their way to refrence a
: mask in the old continuity when here he's
: completely rewriting MK's history and
: changing the continuity? I mean... this is
: the third time (spoiler) Randall has died...
: for once i guess it's literally MK's fault,
: since the first time he impaled himself on a
: branch, and the second time, (technically,
: the first i think was a clone...) the
: punisher shot him out of a window. If you as
: an author were to rewrite that history of a
: character, and simply force your readers to
: forget all of that ever happened, why would
: you make a reference to it??
:
: It's like having a Star wars 7 with a new
: Darth vader saying hey, i'm your REAL dad...
: yet i'm wearing the old darth vader's
: costume...
:
: I really wish it had all just been in MK's
: head. I wish the existence of Khonshu was
: still ambiguous. And I really honestly don't
: know what to make of the epilouge...
: Apperantly (more spoils) the act of killing
: his brother turned him back into marc
: spector? I don't really know... it was the
: weirdest transition I have ever seen, and
: there was no real evidence to justify why he
: changed personalities, like the Death of
: Marc Spector arc. It just... kind of...
: happened....
:
: I never knew a single issue of Moon Knight
: could make me so angry! Don't even get me
: started with the whole- "Marlene-gets
:
: pregnant-and-loses-her-baby-all-in-the-same-issue-just-to-make-marc
: mad-at-shadowknight"- plot! Agh! There
: could have been amazing potential there.
: Instead it was like a rushed, dissapointing
: plot device.
:
: Okay, enough ranting about my favorite
: character. Hopefully Bendis can turn it
: around
:
