It doesn't seem like they plan on changing Moon Knight's identity. The author made it pretty clear that his goal is to emphasize that Jake Lockley is a different person compared to Marc Spector. They're trying to show that when Jake has complete control, his stlye is a bit different.

I think it's pretty cool that they're placing so much importance on the split personality aspect of the character. I'll admit I'm not too excited about the idea of him using guns either. But we'll see how they handle it.
