Posted by USAgentfan on July 9, 2006, 11:06:03, in reply to "The inital post really only talked about Frenchie being gay as well (Spoilers)" I started commenting on this thread after you had made your opinions clear - opinions I strongly disagree with. If you had been talking about how much you liked the title, then I would have been replying to your posts and telling you how much I agree with you. Unfortunately, as the crux of your post was to highlight how much you dislike what you see as a trend of including homosexual characters in stories, I thought it was appropriate to respond to the issue you had raised. Incidentally, dispite the fact that my initial post was in response to your statement, I did find time to say the following: 'And onto the real issue...This comic rocked! Everything about it rocked! Believable dialogue and characterisation, several massive revelations, the art - everything!' Which I think highlights exactly what I find most appealing about this book, and what i think are the issues most worth mentioning - but as you took us in this direction with your initial post, here we are... You cant start an discussion and then berate people for responding to it. Youre the one who put your neck on the line and listed all of the recent gay characters to appear in comics. We just responded to your post. I'm not berating you for talking about it, I'm just disputing some of the things you say - namely that gay characters sell comics, that writers only include them to generate sensationalist internet gossip, or that there are too many gay characters appearing in comics. I disagree with all three points, NOT your right to raise them. Hopefully when the next issue comes out I will have the chance to respond to DOUGIE STYLE appropriately without the anti-gay lobby hyjacking it! and incidentaly, what DOUGIE STYLE thought about the issue was made pretty clear to me whan he picked the title 'Moonknight #3 WOW!!!!!!!!!!!', and then wrote the following: Okay, this is the first time i have ever been interested in Moon Knight! After reading Horrible Howard Mackie's take on the character and two mini-series' from the '90's, I thought this was the lamest character in all of comics. Huston's first two issues didn't give me much hope either, as they both seemed to have very little direction and very generic plots. However, after ish #3, I am officially hooked! This issue had some of the coolest plot twist I have ever read in the pages of a comic book. Frenchie gay??? Spector and Bushman fellow merc buddies???? Whod've thunk it?? Even though these are new twists on MK's origin, they still make perfect sense and stay true to MK's character. It's always refreshing to read comics work from a writer who is actually a fan, which Huston obviously is. Can't wait for ish #4!!!! MK will be a great break from all the craziness of Civil War! He mentions Frenchie once, and never elaborates on it further. He also mentions this is the first time hes ever been interested in MK, that he didnt like the previous incarnations of the character, that it had some of the coolest plot twists hes ever seen, that the title was a refreshing read and that he couldnt wait for #4 But youve elected to pick up on only one aspect of his opening post - your choice, your decision - we just followed your lead. You created the monster. We might have helped feed it, but make no bones about it - you created it.
