(SPOILERS)" --Previous Message-- Well lets not include the DC references, as they certainly cant be used as a reflection on Marvel, and this is a Marvel board. Hulking and Wiccan are both partners in the same title. So were Sunfire and Spiderwoman who are now both inactive (dead?) characters in another title that dealt with alternate universes anyway, so I'm not sure either of them will be appearing anytime soon - if ever again. Flatman is a spoof character from a spoof title and I doubt that he will ever play any role with any regularity. Ultimate Colossus and his partner (was it ultimate Angel?) are the only gay characters to date in the Ultimate Universe, so I reckon having two gay characters in an entire universe is pretty much fair game. Electro? When was it revealed that he was gay? Thats a new one on me. There is also Northstar - who was 'outted' as being gay years ago and so doesnt form part of the 'modern' trend that you seem to be suggesting. He is also a currently inactive and semi regular character. Living Lightning is also gay if you believe the very spoofish adventures of the Great Lakes Avengers, but again its not like hes an active or popular character being forced down our throats. So in the mainstream Marvel universe you have perhaps three 'popular' gay characters. In the scheme of things and considering the fact that they are surrounded by literally thousands of non gay characters - is that really too much and does it really constitute a trend? It hardly constitutes 'every new comic' as you put it. The fact is that there are currently only two gay characters appearing in only one title out of the dozens that Marvel produces each month, and that title is currently on 'holiday' until Vol 2 of Young Avengers is written. Considering that apparantly ten percent of our own population is gay, I think the Marvel Universe has some way to go. Bottom line is that I thought Frenchies revelation was appropriate for the storyline and advanced the plot without being patronising or tacky. And onto the real issue...This comic rocked! Everything about it rocked! Believable dialogue and characterisation, several massive revelations, the art - everything! Oh, and for the earlier poster - Bushman and Spector had always been established as being professional comrades in arms and even 'friends', its just that Spector got a little tired of the needless bloodshed and developed something of a conscious that led to a difference in opinion with Bushman who over the years conversly got more and more brutal and cruel.

: Frenchie gay???
:
: This is one thing I am really getting tired
: of in comics these days. It seems like every
: new comic these days has a gay character in
: it. I have nothing against gays or lesbians,
: it is just that it is being used too much as
: a tool to get attention.
:
: - DC's Obsidian turned gay out of no where
: - DC's Batwoman is lesbian
: - Hulkling
: - Wiccan
: - Blok of X-Force
: - Ultimate Colossus
: - Electro
: - Flatman
: - Sunfire (Exiles)
: - Spider-Woman (Exiles)
:
: And there are others I can't think of at
: the moment.
:
: With that said, I can't wait to read the
: issue myself (most likely this weekend I can
: make it to the comic shop). So far I have
: enjoyed the build-up and back stories on
: Marc Spector brought into the title.
