She was obviously trained to ride at some point in her life. Her previous owners have gotten on her bareback with just a halter and rope. She may have been a brood mare at one time. She was pregnant when they took her in about 5 years ago.
Yes, her hooves were affected from a combination of founder and lack of hoof trimming. That is why I am keeping her here until spring. There has probably been some degree of coffin bone rotation, but we are confident that she will be capable of light pleasure riding. There will probably not be a fee, but a contract in which she cannot be sold. She may, however, be returned. I will want to follow up on her through her adoptee's vet and ferrier to make sure that she is getting regular care. This mare has a winning personality - very sweet and gentle.
