Say Marvel wants to stick it to AF and keep them dead; then what could the team be, given the attitude of Marvel?
One way could be:
- Sasquatch and Talsiman, of course
- bio-synthetic Mac Hudson as Guardian (he was a cyborg, why can't his cyborg parts still function and regrow?); Langkowski can recreate him, so to speak
- magically re-alive Puck, who needs a special injection from Langkowski to stay alive
- Nemesis, but not Weatherly (she's really dead), a new younger one whose powers are a bit more impressive and who is fated to be with AF (say, Lilli Stephens, without her Ghost Girl powers?)
- you'd have to figure Arachne might stay, but would Shroud join her? Maybe, his powers and Nemesis' teleportation would be handy in re-introducing the team to defeat Pointer and the Master's true Omega Flight
So that team would be Guardian, Sasquatch, Talisman, Puck, Nemesis, Arachne, and maybe Shroud. USAgent is long gone anyhow.
Omega Flight could be regained by the Master with Weapon Omega, an updated Tech-Noir and Brain Drain, Earthmover, and maybe new characters to replace his mutants.
Otherwise AFers still around with powers are insane Box, unhappy Diamond Lil, Aurora and Northstar who may be X-Men again, and evil Wild Child. And what of Witchfire?
Feedback, Persuasion, pathway, and Goblyn may be powered but I doubt Marvel will allow a writer to say they are or use them, though Laura Dean or a non-mutant Goblyn Dean as Nemesis is possible.
I think making Nemesis younger now and more powerful could be the key. Dark but energetic, Mistress of Fate but directional.
I have no idea how long Marvel is going to waste time but any idiot can tell they'd better not wait 'til 2010.
