: Couldn't agree with you more. Spot on. Most
: people simply point at Joe Quesada and say,
: "There you go." He obviously
: hates Alpha Flight and has to leave before
: Marvel gets AF back. If Quesada listened to
: the fans' money Omega Flight, nay Alpha
: Flight, would be hitting around issue
: #80-100 right now. Of v2, not v3.

In fairness Joe Q wasnt around and wasnt responsible for the terrible messes that V2 and V3
were. These comics were so bad that its not suprising that Alpha Flight fell on hard times.
Whilst the decision not to grant on ongoing does seem confusing I'm not necessarily willing to blame Joe Q for it all, or I'm at least willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Omega Flight sold well but lets be honest it was hardly a high profile project. Its true that Marvel never neemed to give it a push and the whole thing did appear to be rushed, but Marvel and Joe Q do seem to want an Alpha Flight franchise which is why I think there will be one sooner rather than later.
Even though Omega Flight technically deserved an ongoing and I'm sure such a title would have sold reasonably well, I'm not sure it would have pulled in the 80K to 100K readers you suggest without a high profile creative team and a big push or a role in some big storylines.
It also needs to be remembered that Omega Flight was born out of Civil War and in light of Secret Invasion its possible that alot of the decisions made during Civil War could be thrown into doubt. If the whole Civil War thing proves to have been manipulated then there may be little reasons for the likes of Agent, spiderwoman and Beta Ray Bill to stay in Canada on the team.
The most recent Marvel handbook also suggests that the orignal Alpha Flighters only 'appeared' to have been killed. Theyve been replaced before and with everything Skrully going on at the moment what are the odds that Michael Pointer didnt kill the originals?
I am upset with the way Marvel appeared to treat the creators and the fans especially as they appear to have simply broken their promise to offer an ongoing, but its more upsetting that the team didnt even get a maxi-series or a second mini series.
