Pointer is just a mailman unless he has mutant energy to absorb. No mutants in his Alaska burg, so no problem.
So CSIS finds he is losing his mutant energy (like a car running out of gas) so they keep mutants they capture to see if they can 'refuel' him. Turns out he can steal their energy and thus their powers, but he also gets their personalities. Since he is so weak-willed, their personalities always take control. So now he has that woman, Tentakill, Raptore et al in his head, and he's losing control.
So he's a problem; either he's an unpowered wimp, or he's a power potential maniac. Lose-lose for his teammates and handlers. Thus he will become the 'Weapon' Brown fears he is, worthless.
