: Really, the X-Men stories have been getting
: worse and worse.
: I don't mean they are Chuck Austen-awful
: yet, but bad in their own way.
: Wolverine is becoming retconn central and
: moves so slowly that one issue of it is like
: 7 pages in a normal comic. The retconns are
: becoming so stupid (Wild Child a Nazi??
: Sasquatch a dog relative??) that it isn't
: worth reading unless you're that big of a
: Logan fan. I don't read it.
: The X-Men titles are also slow as molasses.
: Each title takes 3 issues to tell a
: beginning, they drag on and on. Only
: Carey's X-Men escape the worst of it, his
: book actually moves at speed!
: Now we have M-Day getting rid of x-gene
: mutants forever (how I hated the retcon of
: 'mutants as the next evolutionary step'!),
: so no new mutants, so Beast is so bothered
: by this that he is willing to do anything to
: help psychopaths, sociopaths, mass
: murderers, Nazis, serial killers, and worse
: so that he can get more mutants born. So he
: fails, Wanda's spell is undone anyway, and a
: mutant baby, a 'messiah' simply because s/he
: is the first x-gene mutant born in a while,
: gets everyone's attention because s/he is
: the first of many, though the idiots like
: Beast think s/he's unique. Horrible idea.
: Can X-Men get any worse??
: At least Omega Flight isn't in that league.
I wholeheartedly agree; I recently bought a couple of those Wolverine issues of late where he was battling Sabretooth, and when that thing went on for over 2 issues, I got out fast. To me, Omega Flight doesn't have the same feel -- it's slow-paced alright, but it doesn't feel empty. Wolverine, along with some of the other x-men books, feels like they're stringing stories out just to make sure people buy the next issue. I'm honestly started buying Omega Flight just because Beta Ray Bill was in it, but I've enjoyed the story so far (as long as Bill doesn't die, i'll keep buying it). With all this "Intiative" stuff south of the border, Omega Flight should have plenty of good stories ahead of it should the series continue on.
