The one complaint I have (and it's a big one) is choosing to put an American murderer in the Guardian suit. Having a foreigner wear the flag of Canada is disrespectful in the extreme, even if the man was a saint. I'm *praying* that Pointer has dual citizenship at least, but so far, in printed continuity, he appears to be exclusively American. --Previous Message--
: I agree with everything you said, and I wonder
: how long AF/OF fans are going to blindly
: rehash that "it's because it was
: switched from on-going to miniseries"
: mcguffin before they realize that the words
: and the pictures are not meshing well
: together, something someone must have
: realized when they first saw the original
: two+ issues of this series.
: I no longer have any confidence that Omega
: Flight should be an on-going either, as # 3
: wasted justed about all of its opportunities
: to be great and substantial. This is doubly
: disappointing because Kolins went above and
: beyond on the artwork for the BRB segment.
: The words, unfortunately, do not enhance the
: pictures, and "This is cosmic!"
: should have been on the full page of BRB.
: Agent Brown has not demonstrated much skill:
: he couldn't get a Canadian team together
: (see # 1), didn't stand up to Tony (Iron
: Man) Stark, sent a traumatized Sasquatch in
: alone, and allows a human time bomb to be
: right next to the people he's recruiting to
: defend Canada!
: I don't see much hope for Omega Flight, even
: less for Alpha Flight, and it gives me no
: joy in saying that.

: I have very mixed feelings about this issue,
: on the one hand I like Scott Kolinís art,
: particularly the visual as we witnessed beta
: Ray Billís transformation (I do wish that he
: would put a little more detail into the
: characters facial features whenever he takes
: on a project though) and I still think that
: Oeming writes a very good US Agent (he
: should be a jerk, itís a major part of his
: character as a defense mechanism to hide the
: depths of his character, and his compassion)
: and talisman (her anger towards seeing
: Michael pointer in the Guardian uniform was
: not only understandable but also 100% in
: character). Agent Browne also continues to
: be an interesting character with untapped
: potential, in my opinion.
: On the other hand, I wasnít really impressed
: by Oemingís take of Beta Ray Bill. In all
: honesty, I donít like the retcon of having
: the death of Beta Ray Billís people linked
: to the Canadian Northern Gods. I do
: understand Oemingís desire to give Bill a
: link to Omega flight and a reason for
: joining but surely the fact he was reborn in
: a Canadians body is enough of a link to
: Canada to justify his joining of Omega
: flight (he has more links then US Agent and
: Arachne after all). I also did not really
: like the dialogue which Oeming gave Bill, he
: simply didnít ďsoundĒ right to me which is a
: shame because it took me out of the story
: and detracted from my enjoyment.
: The third and final thing which I disliked
: about this issue was the fact that it was,
: essentially, nothing more then one very long
: fight scene and the plot was not developed
: at all, I just felt that this was a waste of
: an issue.
: On the basis of this issue, Iím no longer
: convinced that ,b>Omega flight actually
: deserves to be extended to an on-going
: series. I just feel that a lot of potential
: has been wasted with this issue and (sadly)
: I can easily understand why the series was
: solicited as a mini, instead of an on-going.
: Oeming just seems to run out of steam, in
: my opinion and itís a great shame.
