She appeared in spectral form to Tigra and gave her a warning that went something like, "Tabur has the ray!" Tigra went to the Cat People's lair to find out what was meant by the warning and found out that (1) a bad cat guy named Tabur had a weapon that could "de-evolve" humans and make them into apes, whereby cat people could rule, and (2) that Dr. Tumolo was dead because using the power to appear to somebody as a specter was fatal. (It was said in this issue that all cat people, including Tigra, have this power.) P.S. At first Dr. Tumolo's first name was Joanne, then in a West Coast Avenger issue, Tigra referred to her as Marie, so her name was retconned to Joanne Marie Tumolo.
