I believe that how the master cylinder applies force. the are two chambers, each for a diagonal circut. maybe when you pushed back the cylinder the fluid pushed back or dislodged some debris (especially if the fluid was neglected) in the master cylinder and is causing it to not release pressure. or the rubber inside is deteriorating and clogging holes? It's just odd that the diagonal rear is hanging too
