Timing belt light '88 S4 AT

Hello All, Yesterday my tension light came on. I stopped the car and checked my belt. The belt is 3 yrs old/15 K milage. The tension was OK and the belt still looks like new. I've had the light come on 4 times now (each time a small heart attack). If I turn the car off and restart it stays off. Is there something else I should be looking for? Also I'm in Canada, drove through a big snow storm today. Regards, David
