You definitely fed through the alternator's diode bridge backwards. Without looking on a schematic, you probably:
A) burned a fusible link
B) burned up the diode bridge rectifier
C) burned up wiring to the alternator
D) any or all of the above
E) damaged other electronics components in the vehicle
One good sign is that it still runs. Hopefully, you didn't take out the PCM, MAF or the other 243 modules on the 928.
We had a fire department's Suburban come in the shop 2 years ago that was jumped backwards. It had a damaged PCM, ABS controller, radio, HVAC controller, siren, 2 strobe power supplies and a pile of blown fuses and fusible links.
