Forget the fuel regulator. That's "shotgunning" just looking at an unknown part. Diagnose the problem correctly before wasting 7 weeks looking at everything other than the real problem.
With this known now, shoot some starting fluid into the air inlet or throttle body and try to start the car. If it tries to fire now, we need to diagnose the fuel system. If it DOES NOT try to fire, you need to go toward the electronics and mechanicals of the engine. Let us know what happens.
