Hard Starting Issues with 1986.5 Shark

Hello Gang, lately, I've been experiencing hard starting with my shark. Therefore I would like some ideas of what might be causing this problem from the collective "think tank". Now, I replaced the ignition coils 4 years ago, I think it might be the alternator which hasn't been changed since I've owned the car. If it is the alternator, can't I just purchase the regulator and replace the existing one. Any assistance would be appreciated.
