I removed the stock speakers from their enclosures, and retrofitted new ones with no problems. I used Boston Acoustics coax units in the passenger area, and MB Quart separates in the doors, with the crossovers on the knee shelf indide the passenger area. With a basic 50w per channel X 4 head unit (mine is an Alpine) it is more than enough to fill the space with great sounds.
