I would first make sure it's the speakers. Cracking can also be an amplification problem. If it is the speakers. I would go to a reputable car audio store and have them put in a set of aftermarket ones. A $50 pair of modern speakers are better than anything ever put in a 928. Anything original will be too old. I think you will find that you entire audio system is about at the end of it's life (if it's original). for short money you could have an entire new sytem. I wouldn't even bother with the speakers in the trunk. They are useless. I don't know why they put them there anyhow.
