Posted by don 2. Sounds like you have both valet (short) and alarm key. Does alarm key go in until about last 1/4 inch? If so then sounds like alarm part of lock is stuck in lock or unlock position (probably unlock position as if alarm way would always be set). Does your key go in easily or with resistance until end? If easy then need to check lock by removing as a new key will probably not solve your problem. My '81 seems to take my new key easier (long alarm one) but is having some difficulty with the valet. Do not shoot wd40 or simialar into lock as it will gum things up. 3. Again my '81 did same. Luckily only did this with window down (both doors would lock.) Something is slightly out of adjustment. What I found on mine was a loose screw located on the rear of the door jam. Tightened this and the problem went away. Other than this, panel needs to come off and check. My first look would be on the passenger side. If the key is not going in there is problem there. Hope this helps.

1. Your year does not have lock button under a/c on center console so no need to address.
