Still stumbling/bogging out

Hello All, I checked for vacuum leaks ( idle = 18 inches), coil wires, spark plugs are clean, changed fuel filter, and the fuel pump is 2 years old,. The car shakes when accelerating and sometimes at idle. The problem is intermitent. I checked the fuel pressure at idle it's 52 psi, when I turn the car off it jumps to 56 but after a few hours it's 0. Is this normal for the fuel regulator? It feels like a fuel shortage problem. Haven't ruled out electrical. Any ideas, I'll try anything. 1988 S4 AT. Best regards, David
