Stumbling / shaking acceleration

Hello All, 1988,S4,AT. I have a new problem. With regular acceleration the car will stumble / shake and buck. The vibration is felt through the steering wheel. It will sometimes shake at idle (park or neutral). Hard or gental acceleration avoids the problem (not always)best. I changed the MAP with no effect and changed the fuel pump and filter 2 years ago/5,000 miles. At constant speed there is no problem. Has any one had the same problem? Thanks, David
