There can be several causes of too rich of an air/fuel mixture
- Temp II sensor providing incorrect reading (LH thinks the engine is cold, injects more fuel)
- failed fuel pressure regulator/dampener (look for fuel draining into the vacuum lines that plug into them)
- failing Mass Airflow Sensor ... note, on 1987 and newer 928s with O2 sensor, there is NO adjustment of base air/fuel mixture at the MAF (as is possible on earlier models). For Euro/ROW models without cats, there is a pot adjustment near the LH.
- failing LH fuel injection module. Rich air/fuel mixture is one of the failure modes of the LH. A rebuild is needed to fix this problem.
